Common questions answered.
At All in the Edit, we provide line and copy editing, proofreading, and comprehensive editing and proofreading packages to ensure your manuscript is polished and ready for publication.
Line editing focuses on improving the quality of writing at the sentence and paragraph level, addressing issues such as expression, language use, and inconsistencies. Proofreading, on the other hand, is the final step where we eliminate minor errors like typos, punctuation mistakes, and formatting issues.

Absolutely! We provide formatting services to create beautiful, upload-ready files and can design eye-catching covers for your book.
I specialise in providing a professional book editing service for the following genres:
*Romance Fiction (all subgenres, e.g. *Historical, Paranormal, Sports)
*Erotic Fiction
*Contemporary Fiction
*Romantasy
*Young Adult Fiction (YA)
*Middle Grade and Early Readers
However, I have edited Fantasy, Horror, Humour, Memoir and more, and I am always open to editing projects that fall outside the box, so even if your work doesn’t quite fit into the above genres, please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss your book editing needs.
For proofreading projects, I am happy to work within any fiction genre.
Please note, however, there are certain genres and themes that I am not comfortable with (for example: extreme horror/gore, gratuitous violence, non-consensual sexual content, hate speech) If you are unsure whether your content fits our guidelines, please query first.
There are several factors to consider when estimating how long it will take me to complete your project.
The first factor is the time I have available when you reach out to me. I tend to schedule my projects on a first come first served basis, so it is important to contact me as soon as possible if you would like me to edit your novel (particularly if you are working to a deadline) to avoid disappointment.
Other factors that will have an impact include word count, the depth of editing required, and whether you are in need of proofreading, line and copy editing, or formatting and design services.
Deadlines will be discussed and agreed upon before any work commences.
As a very basic guideline, I recommend putting aside:
1 week per 20-25,000 words for Copy and Line Editing (ie. 3-4 weeks for a 70,000 word manuscript)
1 week per 50,000 words for Proofreading
1 week for eBook Formatting
2 weeks for Print Book Formatting
1 week for Cover Wrap Design services
I use Microsoft Word. It is the most widely used software between editors and authors, with some very useful features. All of my edits will be performed with the ‘Track Changes’ feature switched on so that you can review every change and comment in-line. Don’t worry if you’re not sure how to use the ‘Track Changes’ feature—I will assist you every step of the way.
Please provide your manuscript formatted to industry standards:
*Times New Roman
*12 pt font
*double spacing
*0.5″ indents
Absolutely!
My usual payment terms are spread out over 3 payments (20% non-refundable deposit to secure your booking, a further 30% on the starting date of your project, and the final 50% on completion of your work), however I am happy to chat about options to suit your needs.
N.B. All non-add on formatting and cover design service payments are required up front.
After a full discussion covering all your needs, a contract will be made up and signed before any works will commence.
This contract covers:
*A full scope of work detailing all services required
*Timelines, starting dates and deadlines
*Rates, project costs, and agreed payment terms
*Issues pertaining to copyright and privacy to ensure your peace of mind
Absolutely not. While AI can be useful in some circumstances, we feel that only the attention to detail and contextual understanding afforded by a human editor can provide the results required to ensure that your manuscript turns out the best it can be.
The majority of Australian English is based on UK spelling (i.e. colour not color, realise not realize, etc), hence the use of those spellings throughout my website and copy on social media and in email communications. However, my proofreading qualifications were undertaken through a US-based company, and I am very familiar with the use of Chicago Manual of Style and the Merriam-Webster dictionary for my US clients. For those of my clients from the UK, I work with the Oxford Style Guide and Dictionary. For my fellow Australians, I use the Australian Style Guide and the Macquarie dictionary, and for my clients in New Zealand the New Zealand Oxford Dictionary. However, I am happy to base my edits on whichever style guide and dictionary you prefer.
My clients have come from all over the globe, and I am able to adapt to any need!
Yes, we’re happy to provide an invoice in your local currency upon request. For payments, clients outside of Australia can use PayPal or Stripe. If you’re based in Australia, we also offer the option of bank transfer.
Generally, due to severe hearing loss, I do not offer calls, however please be assured that I remain available for contact via email or WhatsApp for any questions you have during and following your services with All in the Edit.
