Author Q&A
1. Why do you write?
I've loved writing ever since I was a little girl. I loved analyzing literature and writing during college. Coming into adulthood, I put my interest in writing on the back burner and thought if I ever did write a book, it would be some sort of non-fiction book. In 2023, I could no longer tamp down the love stories that kept swirling in my mind, so I sheepishly mentioned to my husband the fact that I was toying with the idea of writing a romance novel. He told me to write like I was going to publish it. Love and Other Goals was published in June of 2024 :)
2. What is your writing process?
So far, my books have started with a handful of scenes that I envision. Then I start mulling over who the characters are and what they need to face in order to grow. From there, I form a rough outline of the key plot points of the story, and then I dive into writing and pants my way through in between! I do most of my writing while my kids are at school during the day.
3. Who is your biggest inspiration?
My husband, for sure. It's inspiring the way he puts up with me :) But seriously, Kyle is an amazingly multi-talented man with a lot on his plate, but he ceaselessly encourages me to keep pressing into this author dream. I couldn't be doing this without his support.
4. What do you want readers to know about Love and Other Chances?
Love and Other Chances is my third book to be published, and the second in the interconnected series after Love and Other Goals. I like writing relatable romance, where you can picture these characters being real people and having this real love story. I also like to make my characters experience growth, so you'll see that in Teegan and Brooks' story!
5. What’s next for you?
I'm currently drafting my fourth book, but I haven't shared any information about it yet. In an ideal world, I'll have three books released in 2025... so we'll see how writing goes!
